Raising Gorgone Checkerspots

The Gorgone Checkerspot is a small nymphalid butterfly in Eastern North America. It is one of the smallest Checkerspots they are found in lush meadows and sand barrens. I found 15 caterpillars in the wild and decided to raise them. They are a simple species for beginners. They are communal caterpillars and can be housed with each other. They can be found from Late April to October depending on the area.

Host- Various asters, and Sunflowers.

Cage Requirements- Proper ventilation and host plants. Make sure they have humidity. Keep the cage clean to avoid sickness. Adults need a proper space to fly.
